Early resolution

Mr X complained that Cafcass Cymru had restricted his contact with its office via telephone due to an allegation of inappropriate conduct toward its staff.

The Ombudsman decided that Cafcass Cymru should (within 2 weeks of the scheduled court case) review its restriction and provide Mr X with a written decision informing him if the restriction on telephone contact with its office had been lifted or not; and if not, it would provide him with a timescale as to when it would next review its decision.

The Ombudsman considered this to be an appropriate resolution to the complaint instead of conducting an investigation.
