Miss A complained that Swansea Council failed to respond to the complaint she submitted regarding repairs to her home.
The Ombudsman found that, while the Council had been in correspondence with Miss A regarding the repairs and the condition of the property, it had not provided a final response. The Ombudsman said this caused uncertainty and frustration for Miss A and decided to settle the complaint without an investigation.
The Ombudsman sought and gained the Council’s agreement to, within 4 weeks, provide Miss A with a final complaint response that sets out what the Council has done so far, what works remain outstanding, an explanation of the actions needed to be undertaken by Miss A and a target date for completion of this. The response should also include either a date for an inspection or a date when the repairs will be complete subject to Miss A undertaking the actions set out in the response
