Mr X complained that following a leak in his property and damage to a kitchen wall unit, Cardiff Council (“the Council”) had refused to replace his unit with one that matched the original colour of his kitchen.
The Ombudsman did consider that it was unfortunate that the Council was not able to replace the unit with something similar, and in making enquiries with Mr X and the Council he decided to settle the complaint without investigation.
In settlement of the complaint, the Council agreed, within 4 weeks, to provide Mr X with a cheque to cover the cost of sourcing a kitchen unit to his liking and having it installed himself.
