Mr X complained about the way his application for Discretionary Assistant Funding (“DAF”) was handled.
DAF had initially advised Mr X that his application was granted but after discovering an administrative error, it found that he was not eligible for funding and the application was consequently rejected.
The Ombudsman found that DAF had failed to explain the change of decision. It therefore agreed to write to Mr X, by 21 September 2022, to explain the administration error and offer its apologies.
