Mr A complained about the length of time Cardiff Council were taking to arrange education for his son, who was in care, and that no timeframe had been provided.
The Ombudsman decided that the Council had failed to complete a Personal Education Plan within the statutory timeframe for Mr A’s son. She said that this caused delays with education provision being put in place, and frustration for Mr A. The Ombudsman decided to settle the complaint without an investigation.
The Ombudsman sought and gained the Council’s agreement to complete a Personal Education Plan for Mr A’s son within 10 working days. Within a further 10working days, to provide a further written response to Mr A confirming the time frame within which further educational provision would be put in place and apologise for the error in not completing the Personal Education Plan within the time frame specified.
