Mr S complained that the Isle of Anglesey County Council had instructed an enforcement agent to obtain payment of his unpaid council tax. Mr S had raised a complaint with the Council about the method used to obtain payment, but the Council had not responded.
The Ombudsman decided that the Council had failed to act in accordance with its statutory complaints procedure and had not responded to Mr S’ complaint. She said this caused frustration and distress to Mr S.
As an alternative to an investigation, the Ombudsman sought and gained the Council’s agreement to provide Mr Myers with an apology for the delay in responding and issue a formal response within 30 working days.
