Mr X complained that the Council had not responded to his complaint submitted to it in April 2021 regarding issues with his council tax payments.

The Ombudsman decided that the Council should provide Mr X with a stage two response (within 3 weeks) which should include an explanation for the delay. The Council will also perform an assessment to determine whether Mr X has lost out financially because of the delay. It will also consider a time and trouble payment for having to follow up on this matter and for contacting the Ombudsman.

The Ombudsman considered this to be an appropriate resolution to the complaint instead of conducting an investigation.
