Mrs A complained that a Pharmacy in the area of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board had given her incorrect medication, which she unknowingly took for 10 days. Mrs A said the incorrect medication made her very unwell.
The Ombudsman found that the Pharmacy’s response to Mrs A’s complaint had been very brief, did not appear to take accountability of the dispensing error and did not appear to recognise the impact upon Mrs A.
The Ombudsman decided to settle the complaint without an investigation. She sought and gained the Pharmacy’s agreement to provide Mrs A with a further complaint response that accounts for and recognises the concerns and illness that Mrs A experienced. The Pharmacy agreed to complete this action within 20 working days.
