Mrs A complained that Swansea Bay University Health Board (“the Health Board”) failed to follow correct procedures when she presented at Morriston hospital with her infant daughter, who had a mark on her cheek. Mrs A said that Social Services should not have been contacted until proper investigations had been completed.
In considering the complaint, the Ombudsman found that the Health Board had already accepted and taken action to address some shortcomings in its communication with Mrs A. However, it had no formal child safeguarding parent information leaflet available.
As a result, the Health Board agreed, within 2 months, to create a parent information leaflet.
