Ms A complained about the care and treatment she received following her presentation to Glangwili Hospital Emergency Department on 11-12 December 2024. Specifically, she queried whether the Health Board’s actions were clinically appropriate with regard to: the tests, investigations and examinations carried out; the diagnoses explored; the consideration given to onward referral, including to the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department; and the decision to discharge her on 12 December.
The Health Board agreed to forward this matter to its Legal and Risk Services Team to consider whether and to what extent those failings caused harm to Ms A, following a process that is line with requirements under regulation 26 of the NHS Concerns, Complaints and Redress Arrangements (Wales) Regulations 2011.
The Ombudsman considered that it was appropriate to settle the complaint on the basis of this action.
