Subject

Clinical treatment in hospital

Case Reference Number

202501942

Outcome

Not Upheld

Mrs B complained about the care and treatment received by her father, Mr A, from the Health Board. Mrs B questioned whether Mr A should have been prescribed anti-coagulation medication (drugs that reduce the risk of the formation of blood clots) following his attendance at the Emergency Department of the Royal Glamorgan Hospital on 25 October 2024. She also asked if Mr A’s diagnosis, treatment and discharge were appropriate at his second attendance at the Hospital on 4 November 2024.

The investigation found that it was appropriate that Mr A was not prescribed anti-coagulation medication following his attendance at the Hospital on 25 October 2024, so this point was not upheld.

It further found that Mr A’s diagnosis, treatment and discharge on 4 November 2024 were all appropriate; consequently, these points were also not upheld.
