Mrs X complained about the care and treatment that her mother received whilst she was an inpatient at one of the Health Board’s hospitals; she said that it was “total neglect”. Mrs X complained that the Health Board failed to carry on her mother’s prescribed medication which caused her harm.
As part of his assessment, the Ombudsman noted that Mrs X’s concerns had not been brought to the attention of the Health Board. Therefore, he concluded that the Health Board had not had a reasonable opportunity to investigate and respond to the complaint.
The Health Board agreed to provide a formal written response to Mrs X within 30 working days of the Ombudsman’s decision.
