Mr X complained that the Admissions Panel did not obtain a faith reference from a referee it provided in the application form and said that if the Admissions Panel had done so, his daughter, Miss Y, would have been offered a place in the school. Mr X also complained that the Appeals Panel failed to appropriately consider the evidence and did not recognise the main points of his appeal.
The Ombudsman contacted the Appeal Panel and the Admissions Panel. The Admissions Panel offered Miss Y a place in the school and the Ombudsman considered this to be an appropriate settlement of Mr X’s complaint.
