Mrs X complained about the care and treatment provided to her daughter, Miss A, by the Health Board in relation to her eyesight and a possible stroke. Mrs X also said that the Health Board would not accept her complaint due to it being deemed as out of time.
The Ombudsman found that whilst the eyesight element of Mrs X complaint was out of time, Mrs X only became aware of the possibility that Miss A may have suffered a stroke in August 2021, when she received a letter from a consultant. The Health Board agreed to complete the following in settlement of Mrs X’s complaint by 10 September 2022, as an alternative to the Ombudsman investigating it:
a) Hold a virtual meeting with Mrs X and a paediatric consultant to further discuss the care Miss A received by the Health Board and the results of any investigations that were undertaken at that time.
