Case Against

Chirk Town Council

Subject

Integrity

Case Reference Number

202108695

Outcome

Referred to Standards Committee

The Ombudsman’s office received a complaint that a former member (“the Former Member”) of Chirk Town Council (“the Council”) had breached the Code of Conduct.

The investigation found that the Former Member’s conduct was suggestive of a breach of paragraph 6(1)(a).

The report on the investigation was referred to the Monitoring Officer of Wrexham County Borough Council for consideration by the County Council’s Standards Committee.

The Council’s Standards Committee found that the Member had failed to comply with the paragraph 6(1)(a).  The Committee determined that a censure be imposed on the Former Member, noting it was the only sanction available to it given that the Former Member had resigned.
