Mr A complained about a recurring issue with the drainage system to his property, including blocked drains. Mr A said that he has been reporting problems to the Council for years and the and repairs undertaken did not resolve the issue.
The Ombudsman decided that the repairs the Council had carried out at Mr A’s property did not fully address the issues which he experienced and additional repairs to a nearby manhole were needed. The Ombudsman decided to settle the complaint without investigation.
The Ombudsman sought and gained the Council’s agreement to, within 2 weeks, apologise to Mr A, provide him with a written schedule and timeline of the planned works, and to commit to undertaking proactive monitoring of his drainage system until the cause of the blockages had been remedied.
