Miss C complained that there had been avoidable delays by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board in relation to the assessment, diagnosis and support of her child’s autism and ADHD. She further complained that the delays were impacting on the identification of support for her child’s Additional Learning Needs.
The Ombudsman decided that although the Health Board had taken some action to address the immediate concerns, and indicated that a review would be carried out, it had not addressed the specific concerns raised in Miss C’s complaint and subsequent correspondence. The Ombudsman decided to settle the complaint without an investigation.
The Ombudsman sought and gained the Health Board’s agreement to provide a further response to Miss C within 1 month, addressing each of her concerns and questions and identifying any learning / action to betaken. The Health Board also agreed to ensure that any information that was required to support the child’s Additional Learning Needs was provided within 1 month.
