Case Against

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board

Subject

Clinical treatment in hospital

Case Reference Number

202510195

Outcome

Early resolution

Mrs A complained about the care and treatment she received from the Health Board. Mrs A said that there had been a failure to undertake diagnostic investigations such as an MRI, which resulted in her paying for a private scan. Mrs A also complained that there were delays in referral and treatment; missed opportunities to undertake preventative measures to prevent deterioration; delays in diagnosing her condition; and, that she was provided with incorrect advice.

The Ombudsman decided that the Health Board had not provided Mrs A with an adequate response to her concerns, particularly in relation to it rationale for not undertaking diagnostic investigations. The Ombudsman decided to settle the complaint without an investigation.

The Ombudsman sought and gained the Health Board’s agreement to write to Mrs A within 1 month providing her with an fulsome explanation for the decisions it made in relation to her care and treatment
