Ms A complained about Bridgend County Borough Council’s decision not to investigate a complaint about the domiciliary care her late father received from a care agency, part funded by a Council care package.
The Ombudsman decided that whilst the Council had informed Ms A in writing why it would not respond to her complaint, the reasons provided did not correspond with the circumstances. She decided to settle the complaint without an investigation.
The Ombudsman sought and gained the Council’s agreement that within 2 weeks it would reconsider its decision not to investigate, and if it remained of the same view it would write to Ms A to clearly explain the rationale for the decision.
