Mrs C complained about the care that Carmarthenshire County Council provided to her children, who are in foster care. She also complained that she was not kept informed of her children’s progress and development.
The Ombudsman decided that the Council had not responded Mrs C’s concerns about her child’s additional learning needs and had not provided sufficient information regarding her rights under the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal Act and Data Protection Act. There had also been delays in providing Mrs C with records of meetings regarding her children. The Ombudsman decided to settle the complaint without an investigation.
The Ombudsman sought and gained the Council’s agreement to investigate and respond to Mrs C’s complaint regarding her child’s learning needs within 1 month. The Council also agreed to provide Mrs C with the minutes of meetings, and information regarding appeals and access to records, within 1 month.
