Mr A complained that the Admissions Appeal Panel had not considered the family’s exceptional circumstances when it refused his daughter’s appeal.
The Ombudsman decided that the Panel had misunderstood a key piece of information that had strongly influenced its decision to refuse the appeal. The Ombudsman decided to settle the complaint without an investigation.
The Ombudsman sought and gained the Panel’s agreement to re-consider the appeal at a new hearing, before the start of the new term.
