Mrs X complained that Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council failed to respond to her complaint about the care provided to her late husband.

The Ombudsman found that the Council failed to respond to Mrs X complaint letter submitted to it in March 2025. She said this caused uncertainty and frustration for Mrs X. The Ombudsman decided to settle the complaint without an investigation.

The Ombudsman sought and gained the Council’s agreement to, within 3 weeks, apologise to Mrs X for the oversight in not responding to her letter, issue a complaint response and offer £100 redress for the oversight in not responding to her letter and for her time and trouble in making a complaint to the Ombudsman.
