Miss T complained about the care and treatment she received from a private hospital which was commissioned by the NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee. She specifically complained that the penile skin inversion vaginoplasty operation (a surgical procedure to create a vagina out of penile tissue) was not performed to an appropriate clinical standard and she was not provided with sufficient pain relief post-surgery. Miss T also complained that, during revision surgery, she was over-sedated against her wishes.
The investigation found that the vaginoplasty operation was performed to an appropriate clinical standard. In addition, following surgery Miss T was monitored and appropriate pain relief was given. This complaint was not upheld. The investigation also found that Miss T received appropriate sedation during her revision surgery and this complaint was not upheld.
